Waterford Institute of Technology is calling for tech and smart-agri entrepreneurs to apply to its eDIGIREGION project.

A ‘Call for Concepts’ has opened for innovative and ICT-related ideas that will benefit the development, sustainability and profitability of the internet of Things (IoT) or agriculture industries.

The director of the eDIGIREGION project, Professor Bill O’Gorman, said: “This project offers an excellent opportunity for entrepreneurs, researchers, HEIs and enterprises to present their concept to an international audience.”

The chosen concept will receive intensive development, mentoring and commercialisation support in an international two-day workshop to be held on 18 and 19 May in Bucharest, Romania.

Mr O’Gorman said this will offer “a unique opportunity to receive appropriate advice from a panel in international experts and practitioners on how to progress their concept into commercial reality.”

Concepts that are early stage ideas for innovative products or services that are targeted at either industry or precision agriculture can be accepted.

The concept that is then chosen will represent the southeast Ireland region in Bucharest.
