Gardaí said they were called to Derryarkin near Rhode, Co Offaly, at 4:35pm on Saturday. They found the 19-year-old man with severe head injuries and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

His body was taken to Tullamore Midland Regional Hospital for a postmortem examination.

A spokesperson for the Health and Safety Authority (HSA) said a tractor and trailer were involved and inspectors were investigating the accident.

This is the 14th death on Irish farms so far this year, following the tragic incident in which two brothers were attacked by bulls in Co Donegal last month.
