Mastek Ltd is launching three new features for its wide range of Slurry Mate dribble bars and trailing shoes at this year’s National Ploughing Championships.

They are designed to make better use of slurry and handle more variable liquid.

The Mastek Supercut macerator is designed specifically for the Irish market. It features six blades with unique V-shaped cutting teeth.

When rotating, it will shear long fibrous material such as baled silage or in exceptional circumstances silage plastic as it passes through the exit holes of the macerator. It has taken Mastek five years of research and testing to get this product right, according to managing director Paul Quinn.

Each outlet of the macerator has an independent one-way air valve, which will allow air to enter each outlet of the macerator.

This macerator will be fitted on all future Mastek products and can also be retro-fitted to existing machines in the market.

To prevent slurry dribbling from the machine when folded for the road, Mastek has developed a system that folds the individual hoses when both of the outside arms are folded inwards.

When the farmer returns to the field and lowers the two outside arms, the anti-drip system automatically opens.

This will be available as an optional extra for €500 plus VAT.

To make slurry application more accurate, Mastek has also developed an app to optimise slurry spreading accuracy.

Mastek SmartSpread works in combination with a flowmeter advising the operator of the actual rate per acre to which he reacts accordingly. It is available through the Apple app store for €21.99 and is in development for Android devices.
