Last week’s sale at Clogher Mart saw a strong entry of 1,044 cattle pass under the hammer.

There was a good steady demand across all sections. Fat cows sold to a top price of £1.87/kg for a quality 690kg Simmental. Prices ranged from £1.50/kg upwards.

Plainer-quality types sold from £1.30/kg to £1.48/kg, with Friesian cows selling from £0.82/kg to £2.03/kg for a Limousin.

Fat heifers sold from £1.60/kg for a Simmental to £1.93/kg for a 490kg Blonde d’Aquataine.

There were 154 store bullocks for sale on the day and they made mainly from £600 over to £700 over. Lighter types from 400kg to 500kg sold mainly from £500 to £600 over for good-quality types.

There was a strong trade for heifers also, with 148 to choose from. Forward-type sold from £500 over to £650 over. Medium weight sold mainly from £550 to £700 over.
