The accident took place on a farm in the Maguiresbridge area of the county at approximately 8.30pm on Thursday.

The Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) attended the scene and confirmed the death.

“The child was sadly pronounced dead at the scene,” inspector Glen Latimer said.

"Local PSNI will work closely with the Health and Safety Executive as they investigate the circumstances.”

Second NI death

This death brings to two the number of people who have died on farms in Northern Ireland. A 75-year-old man died last week following an accident with a bull in Co Tyrone.

Five deaths in the Republic

A man in his 80s died on Wednesday night in Co Offaly. The death was a result of an accident involving a quad bike. This is the fifth death on farms in the Republic of Ireland so far this year.
