Gardaí are investigating the theft of a Honda quad, a trailer and a welder which were stolen from Waterford dairy farmer Michael O’Gorman’s yard.

“I live just up the road from the yard. It didn’t happen in daylight. When I went out this morning at 6.15am, the contents of the trailer were emptied on the ground.

“They cut the padlock on the garage where the quad was. They must have rolled it up on to the trailer as there was no key in the quad.

“Then they hitched my trailer on to whatever they were driving and off they went,” he said.

Speaking to the Irish Farmers Journal, O’Gorman said that the quad is a distinctive colour.

“It’s an unusual quad, it’s almost army-like. It’s got brown and green camouflage on it and it’s not the usual Honda red colour.”

He said that the trailer was an old timber 8x4ft one that was only used around the yard and that it was the perfect size to put the quad in to steal.
