Michael Gove, the UK Secretary of State for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, was due to meet with Department of Agriculture officials and the Minister for Agriculture, Michael Creed, for bilateral talks in Dublin this Monday to discuss a range of issues including Brexit.

However, a source within the Department confirmed that Michael Gove had cancelled the arranged talks, due to a conflicting meeting with the UK Prime Minister on Monday.

This is not the first meeting that Michael Gove has cancelled with Minister Creed, and as Brexit draws closer it is becoming increasingly vital to work out a solution to lessen the impact of the UK exit given the integrated nature of agricultural between the North and South of Ireland.

Minister Gove also cancelled an arranged visit with Patrick Coveney of Greencore that had been arranged to take place at the British embassy.
