Ballinasloe Mart's sheep sale has been cancelled on Thursday evening ahead of storm Lorenzo. Ballinasloe mart manager Eilish Curley told the Irish Farmers Journal that they were closing as a safety precaution.
Gort Mart decided on Thursday that its cattle sale is going ahead.

A Teagasc farmer meeting that was due to be held at Mellows Campus, Athenry, Co Galway, has also been cancelled due to the storm.
The meeting will focus on why the Dunkellin & Lough Rea are Priority Areas for Action &how farmers can get advice & support from the new Agricultural Sustainability Support & Advisory Programme (ASSAP). #farmingforwaterquality partnership & collaboration to improve water quality pic.twitter.com/fT3FO5NZfY

The CellCheck on-farm events due to take place in Laois on Thursday 3 October and Galway on Friday 4 October have been postponed.
The SBLAS farm walk in Mountbellew, Co Galway, that was due to be held on Friday 4 October has been cancelled.
