After two months of price cuts, most processors have held price for September while Glanbia and Dairygold have bounced off the bottom.

The west Cork co-ops remain in Division 1, paying €4.20/kg milk solids excluding the cell count bonus which a good section of west Cork suppliers are getting.

The price puts them nicely ahead of the Lakeland and Aurivo, who lead the big players in Division 2. Kerry complete the western seaboard takeover of Division 2.

In south and east, Dairygold Co-op made a positive move by increasing its base price to bring them to €3.87/kg milk solids.

Glanbia also increased milk price by 0.5c/l to shareholders by improving the co-op support by 0.5 c/l, bringing them to €3.87/kg milk solids. Essentially this is the dividend from Glanbia plc and Glanbia Ireland to the co-op. Milk suppliers are getting the benefits as the Glanbia board use the dividend to top up the price.

Arrabawn Co-op, headquartered in Nenagh in North Tipp takes up the position at the bottom of the table with a price of €3.81/kg milk solids, which is 0.40c/kg of milk solids (3c/l) from the Drinagh payment on top

Interestingly, Fonterra increased its forecast on milk price this week as they really start to ramp up production while the Irish supply continues on the downward slope.

The New Zealand co-op set a range between $6.55/kg milk solids and $7.55/kg milk solids. If we take it at $7/kg milk solids, that is the equivalent of 30c/l in Irish money at Irish solids.

Some of the Irish lads would like to be paying a price like that now.
