The Department of Culture, Heritage and the Gaeltacht is seeking applications to the role of project manager for an EU-funded project focused on improving corncrake conservation status in Ireland.
The €5.9m LIFE Atlantic Crex project is due to commence in April 2020 and will run for five years. It will focus on conserving corncrakes in Special Protection Areas (SPA) and surrounding farmland at eight project sites in Co Donegal and west Connacht.
The project manager will head up a team of six people and will be based in Gweedore or Belmullet.

Qualifications
Candidates must have at a minimum a level 8 degree in zoology, biology, ecology, environmental science, agricultural science or a relevant qualification. A minimum of three years’ experience in a similar post including project and financial management experience is required.
Competency in spoken and written Irish is also desirable.

The salary for the role begins at €62,034 rising to a maximum of €70,851, equivalent to that of a wildlife inspector grade II. It will be on the basis of a fixed contract of five years.
