Met Éireann has issued a national weather warning as Storm Doris approaches Ireland.
Severe winds are expected late on Wednesday night and Thursday morning.
The wind warning is for Munster, Connacht and Leinster.
Southwest winds of mean speeds between 50km/h and 65km/h will develop giving gusts of 90km/h to 110km/h.
Later in the night, winds will veer northwesterly, strongest in coastal counties.
The weather warning is in place from a minute past midnight on Thursday until 11am.
Tuesday night
There will be locally heavy and persistent rain in the west and north for a time on Tuesday night but this will ease.
Elsewhere, it will be cloudy and misty, with intermittent rain and drizzle, as well as patchy mist and fog.
There will also be blustery southwesterly winds, which will veer westerly overnight and moderate gradually.
