Thirty three farmers have been listed on the latest tax defaulters list for the three-month period 1 April to 30 June 2016 published by the Revenue Commissioners.

Thomas Buckley, with an address at Blackwater, Ardnacrusha, Co Clare, made a settlement of €42,789.49 for under-declaration of VAT and income tax and non-declaration of capital gains tax.

Michael Butler, with an address at Bonnetstown, Co Kilkenny, made a settlement of €206,060 for under-declaration of capital gains tax.

Auctioneer and farmer Patrick Dermody, with an address of Kilshanvey, Cloghans Hill, Tuam, Co Galway, made a settlement of €49,199.91 for under-declaration of income tax.

Farmer and marquee hire agent Seamus Kirwan, from Mullawnree, Camolin, Co Wexford, made a settlement of €64,228 for under-declaration of income tax and PAYE/PRSI.

Denis Lyndon, from Ballytarsna, Oulart, Co Wexford, made a settlement of €39,295 for under-declaration of income tax.

Retired farmer Patrick John O’Connor, with an address of Ballymore Upper, Ventry, Co Kerry, made a settlement of €134,544 for under-declaration of capital gains tax.

Landscape gardener, farmer and landlord Michael O’Reilly, from Clogleagh, Manor Kilbride, Co Wicklow, made a settlement of €12,988 for a penalty determination by the courts relating to an under-declaration of income tax and capital gains tax.

Farmer and garden shed supplier John O’Shaughnessy, from 35 Upper Patrick St, Kilkenny, made a settlement of €50,086.43 for under-declaration of VAT.

Smaller offences

A further 15 farmers were fined for income tax return offences totalling €35,500, the largest one resulting in a fine of €15,000. Two agricultural contractors and one case relating to farm rental were also included on the list for failure to lodge income tax returns.

A total of eight farmers were fined for misuse of green diesel, with the majority resulting in fines of €2,500.

Just one farmer was fined for failure to deliver statement of affairs.
