There will be scattered outbreaks of rain or hail on Friday night. Those showers will become confined to north, west and east coasts.

Elsewhere in the country, clear spells will develop and sharp groundfrost will set in, with a risk of some icy patches. The winds will be moderate to fresh northerly winds, which will slacken inland. Temperatures will fall to between +2°C and -2°C.

More rain or hail is expected on Saturday but there will also be sunny spells in all areas. The showers will die out during the evening and it will stay cold with moderate to fresh, north to northwest breezes. Highest temperatures will range from 6°C to 9°C – several degrees below normal for mid-April.

Saturday night will be dry and clear, but cold and frosty too. Temperatures will fall between zero and -2°C, with light northerly winds backing westerly overnight.

The cold conditions will continue on Sunday but there will still be good sunshine. Temperatures will reach 9°C or 10°C and there will be moderate westerly winds. Frost is forecast for Sunday night again in the midlands and southern areas. Further north there will be cloudier conditions, keeping temperatures at 4°C or 5°C.
