One51 has put its headquarters onto the market. Number 151 Thomas Street is a landmark building in Irish agriculture which is steeped in history. The building is currently occupied by One51 and the IAWS Group, including Origin.
With Aryzta now based in Zurich and Origin increasingly involved in Britain, there is little requirement for such a large office in Dublin.
The property, consisting of almost 6,500 sq ft of office space and an adjoining 0.5-acre site, is located in the heart of Dublin, beside St James’s Gate Brewery and the Guinness Storehouse.
The building has been the home of the Irish Agricultural Wholesale Society (IAWS) since it was established in 1897.
IAWS was formed to trade in international commodity markets on behalf of its co-op members.
The society focused initially on seed and fertilizer, but expanded into other sectors like flour and insecticide over the years.
In 1988, the society floated on the Irish Stock Exchange through IAWS Group plc.
In the early 2000s, the majority of the society’s remaining assets were sold and the capital raised was used to fund One51. One51 became an independent entity in 2007.
Hooke & MacDonald, who are agents for the property, believe it will appeal to a wide range of potential buyers, including property investors, builders and developers.
