There were over 200 calves on offer and they met with a firm trade.

Friesian bull calves with younger calves made €85 to €170, with prices for runners going to €300. Prices for Hereford and Angus bull calves were up on last week and made from €210 to €440. Hereford and Angus heifer calf prices also rose on last week and made €180 to €350. Continental bull calves made from €300 to €460, while heifers ranged from €280 to €440.

Dry cows

Trade for dry cows was better than last month, with cows close to finishing making close to €100/head extra. Prices ranged from €150 under to €620 over the euro/kg. Over 100 cows were sold:

  • Friesian 880kg – €1,400, €1.59/kg
  • Charolais 635kg – €1,120, €1.76/kg
  • Friesian 515kg – €840, €1.63/kg
  • Charolais 680kg – €1,120, €1.65/kg
  • Friesian 730kg – €1,080, €1.48/kg

    • Bullocks

    There were 50 store bullocks on offer and these met a steady trade this week. Friesian bullocks made from €220 to €540 with their weight:

  • 10 482kg – €800, €1.66/kg
  • One 435kg – €635, €1.70/kg
  • One 750kg – €1,290, €1.54/kg
  • Three 326kg – €590, €1.79/kg

    • Beef cross bullocks made €350 to €700 with their weight.

  • Four Angus 291kg – €605, €2.08/kg
  • Three Angus 668kg – €1,240, €1.86/kg
  • One Angus 800kg – €1,490, €1.86/kg
  • One Hereford 545kg – €1,100, €2.02/kg
  • Two Charolais 552kg – €1,190, €2.16/kg
  • Two Simmental 310kg – €700, €2.26/kg

    • Heifers

    There were 30 heifers on offer and they made from €330 to €600 with their weight. Forward butcher heifers were hitting the €2/kg mark. Sample prices:
