Preparations are in full swing for this years Beef 2018 Enhancing Knowledge open day, which takes place in Teagasc Grange on Tuesday 26 June.

The organisers of this year’s open day say it will be the biggest beef event to be staged in Ireland this year.

The event will have four main technical stands and then villages on everything from environment to reproduction and fertility.

Infrastructure village

New to this year’s event will be a major infrastructure village that will have live demonstrations for beef farmers on fencing, water, roadways, reseeding and drainage.

There will also be a new live animal interactive breeding stand with talks running throughout the day by the Irish Farmers Journal, ICBF and Teagasc. The new calf-to-beef demonstration herd that has been established in Grange this spring will be on display.

Stock from the Derrypatrick suckler herd and the maternal demonstration herd will also be there for viewing.

An expanded health and safety village, cookery demonstrations and extra catering areas have also been arranged for the day.

Richard Curran from RTÉ will be chairing the beef forum at the end of the day and the event promises to be a must visit for anybody involved in the beef industry.
