A Texas beef processor has been forced to recall 60,350 pounds of ground beef products over fears that they may be contaminated with foreign materials, specifically metal.
Sam Kane Beef Processors LLC of Corpus Christi recalled meat that was distributed to three HEB grocery distribution centres throughout Texas
The US Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) urged consumers to discard the beef or return it to the point of purchase rather than consuming it.
Consumer's complaint
In the recall notice, officials from the USDA said: “The problem was discovered when the establishment was notified of a consumer’s complaint of a small piece of metal in their purchased product.”
“There have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of these products. Anyone concerned about an injury or illness should contact a healthcare provider.
“Consumers who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them. These products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase.”
