Prepare your face with Benefit Cosmetics Pore Professional Face Primer so that your make up goes on smoothly and flawlessly (€30). Apply this before your foundation. Lightly dab the primer onto your face, especially around the eyes, nose and mouth to blend away fine lines and prepare the skin.
Charlotte Tilbury’s new and utterly amazing Airbrush Flawless Foundation is my favourite ‘go to’ foundation. There are 44 different shades of this weightless, non-cakey, full-coverage magic foundation that will make your skin look youthful, pore-free and so beautifully flawless. It’s long lasting and at €40 is a great gift for yourself or anyone in the family who loves their foundation. A 10/10 product that’s worth the investment.
Kat Van D Lock-It-In Concealer Cream is prefect for brightening the eye area if you suffer from dark circles (€26). It’s ideal for covering spots, blemishes and broken veins. I also love the Catrice foundation available in Penneys (€3.49). It’s offers brilliantly long-lasting coverage – a winner product.
I adore the effect a pretty eyeshadow has on the eyes; just a dab on the eyelids and blend well into the eye sockets. Even the smallest amount of eyeshadow applied before your eyeliner and mascara will bring out your eye colour and open up your eyes.
The Too Faced Chocolate Bon Bon Eyeshadow Collection Chocolate Bar (what a mouthful) is a versatile palette that weirdly smells like a bar of chocolate (€47). It’s full of 16 delicious shades to suit everyone and Too Faced have put together an easy-to-follow Glamour Guide, outlining step-by-step how to master the application of these pretty eyeshadows.
Estée Lauder’s Magic Smokey Powder Shadow Stick 04 Slow Burn is ideal if you’re short on time (€25). Simply add a line of this eyeliner across the eyelid as close to the lashes as possible. Blend in the line with a cotton bud.
Do not apply under the eye as it will be a bit too much. If not applied correctly it can bring the eyes down. Then add two coats of mascara, allowing the first coat to dry before applying the second.
I adore the Full Fat Lash Mascara by Charlotte Tilbury (€29). It’s so long lasting, thickens and adds drama to your lashes.
Products are available nationwide.
Bronze up and warm your wintery complexion with NYZ Professional Makeup Matte Bronzer (€10). This will give a natural sun-kissed glow to your face and cheeks. It comes in five different shades.
Add a dusting of rose tinted blusher to the apple of your cheeks by using Milani Baked Blush in Berry Amore or Luminoso (€12). This will add a slight sheen with a pinky hue to give a pretty fresh glow finish to your face.
Wet’N’Wild Highlighter in Precious Petal is an ideal highlighter (€5). At the very end of your makeover, just add a few light strokes onto your cheek bones to add dimension to your face. Always remember when you use a highlighter less is more and keep it light if you are lined around your eye area, as it can accentuate crow’s feet if it’s over applied. I dab on my highlighter using my ring finger so that I can easily direct the shimmer to my actual cheekbone.
Rimmel Stay Matte Powder works wonders over your foundation to set it and stop any shine or redness, especially if you suffer from oily skin (€5). Always have this powder in your party clutch in case a boogie on the dance floor leaves you looking a bit flushed or your cheeks are aglow after a few glasses of bubbles!
Rimmel Lasting Finish Lipstick is available in Boots, it stays well and comes a wide variety of colours (€6.99). Or you could go Hollywood glamour and try Bobby Brown Luxe Shine Intense Red Lipstick (€32.50). There are 13 different shades in this range and the colours are durable, strong and glossy.
Before your big Christmas party night why not try out a fake tan? My recommendation is So Sue Me’s most amazing and super popular Dripping Gold, available in Penneys (€21.95). Fake tan can be intimidating if you haven’t used it before, but follow these steps and give it ago:
I want to wish all of you and your families a very merry and peaceful Christmas and a healthy and happy new year. If you have any makeup or beauty queries please do drop me a line dollybuckley1@gmail.com.
