Athlone's Aoibh Dully, an Irish Farmers Journal Rising Rural Star, honoured at the National Ploughing Championships last year, has danced into the history books at Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann in Belfast.

Aoibh was chosen as winner of the senior All-Ireland Sean Nós Dance competition in the over-18 category at the Fleadh, and her brother, Rian, took second place in the same event.

It's the first time siblings have taken the two top prizes in the event. Both dancers are members of the Moate branch of Comhaltas.

Last September, Aoibh was chosen was one of 15 Irish Farmers Journal Rising Rural Stars at the National Ploughing Championships in Screggan, recognising the passion young people have for rural life, farming and equine matters.

Aoibh, also a talented musician, combines her Comhaltas activities with a passion for showjumping and horses on the family farm in Clonbonny, close to Athlone. She is also a committed volunteer with the Moate branch of Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann (CCÉ), teaching children music and helping out with classes and events.
