The Blackface Ulster Ram Breeders annual sale at Ballymena on Monday saw a top price of 34,000gns paid for a ram lamb in the Lanark section from Grant brothers, Kilcoo.

Other top prices for Lanark rams saw Colm McAteer, Dromara, receive 22,000gns for a shearling, while 20,000gns was paid for a ram lamb bred by Crawford Brothers, Parkmore.

In the Perth-type sale the top price of 20,000gns went to Sam Adams, Broughshane, for a ram lamb, followed by 19,000gns for a ram lamb from Tom Adams, Rathkenny, and 15,000gns for a ram lamb owned by Paul McEvoy, Kilcoo.

In the Lanark section,110 ram lambs averaged £2,939, with 279 shearlings at £1,338. The 100 Perth-type ram lambs sold averaged £2,227, with 43 shearlings at £744.
