Steady beef markets, the summer seasonal dip in numbers passing through the live ring and the warmest week of the year all combined to ensure a firm trade at Dungannon Farmers’ Mart on Wednesday 24 June.

Quality lots stood out on the day, with some exceptional prices paid.

A small show of forward beef cattle helped keep prices strong, with a 570kg Charolais heifer fetching £2,260 (397p/kg) followed by another Charolais, weighing 585kg, which made £2,200 (376p/kg).

A significant proportion of the lots forwarded were weanlings, with an August 2025 born Charolais male weighing 460kg, selling for £2,110 (459p/kg). This was followed by a 460kg Charolais heifer which sold for £1,940 (422p/kg).
