A circa 87ac non-residential farm in Co Wexford sold for €2.36m (€27,126/ac) at auction on Wednesday 8 April.
Offered in five lots, the farm at Garraun Upper, Rathnure, Enniscorthy exceeded its pre-sale guide price by €10,000/ac and was sold via online auction on the LSL Auctions platform by David Quinn of Quinn Property.
“It was a smashing bit of land and I expected it to sell for around €1.6m or €1.7m, but after the first round of bidding we were at €2.02m, so that really showed the interest that was out there for this land,” he said following the sale.
“We had 25 bidders registered for this auction and there were four different buyers so there are 21 individuals who are still looking out for land.”
He added that this land was purchased by local farmers with a solicitor purchasing lots one and four in trust for two separate clients.
Lots two and five were purchased by the same buyer, while lot three was bought by a neighbouring farmer.
Similar money was paid for a 7.5ac field in Co Limerick that was auctioned by Tom Crosse of GVM Auctioneers.
The land at Atyflin, Patrickswell drew six participants in what was a very lively auction for the property.
It is located close to the motorway and adjacent to the planned Limerick GAA centre of excellence.

Bidding opened at €100,000 and it went on the market at €160,000 before the gavel fell at €197,500 (€26,333/ac).
A further 33.3ac at Loughill, Co Limerick was sold at the same auction. Available in two lots, it made €413,000. Lot one, consisted of 25ac of grass with about 4ac in a glen fetched €355,000 with a 3ac roadside field making €58,000.
