I was ringside at Elphin Mart sale on 13 September and saw that legendary Charolais cattleman Joe Gilfillan set the trade on fire. The well-known Charolais breeder and former president of the Charolais Society bought a whopping 36 Charolais bullocks.

The average price for bullocks weighing 301kg to 400kg was €1,060. Bullocks in the 401kg to 500kg bracket averaged €1,187, while over-500kg bullocks averaged €1,390.

Joe kept the trade flying.
