Richard Hamilton retired from Gurteen college in recent weeks after a 51-year stint of teaching and working.

He first arrived at Gurteen back in 1973 to study, before specialising in dairy and then being offered the job of dairy unit manager for the farm. He worked under four different principals and three farm managers.

Commenting on his retirement, he said: “One of my fondest memories of my time at Gurteen is the joy of working with fellow staff both inside the college and outside in the yard – and making friends for life”.
