There is great interest in Co Kerry in the Revenue official leading the charge on Kerry Co-op patronage shares. It’s widely discussed that the official, Anne Dunlea, worked as an accountant with Deloitte & Touche earlier in her career.

Deloitte & Touche were auditors to Kerry and that gave staff a clear understanding of the Group and Co-op shares in all their many forms.

She joined Revenue working first in Sarsfield House in Limerick but her ability was recognised and she was promoted to become Revenue’s District Manager in Tralee – down the street, of course, from Kerry headquarters.

Deloitte is still retained by Kerry and this week is advising the Co-op on how to bat away the tax demands being made on milk suppliers by its former star employee.

Milk suppliers, meanwhile, note that Dunlea is from a farming background and hope that this will help their case.
