Leinster Co-Operative Marts has announced the appointment of Paddy Galvin as its new general manager.

A native of Co Kilkenny, Galvin brings extensive experience in livestock systems, agribusiness, and customer relationship management.

Since 2016 he has held a number of management and advisory roles with Tirlán, including the position of ruminant business manager.

Galvin also has practical farming experience and continues to operate a beef and sheep enterprise at home.

He succeeds the late Jimmy Walsh, whose leadership and dedication over more than 40 years played a major role in shaping Leinster Mart.

The organisation said Mr Walshs’s contribution to the mart and the wider community continues to be remembered and honoured.

'Strong tradition'

Commenting on the role Mr Galvin said he was honoured to take on the position: “I’m honoured to take on this role and look forward to working with customers, staff and shareholders as we continue supporting farmers and developing the strong tradition and contribution of Leinster Marts into the future,” he said.

Leinster Marts was established through the amalgamation of Carlow, Kilcullen and Borris Marts. It has served the farming community for 56 years, with its roots stretching back even further.

The organisation said it looks forward to continuing its tradition of providing quality livestock, trusted service and strong connections with the farming community.
