Glanbia have teamed up with crop packaging manufacturer, Tama, to support breast cancer research, education and awareness in rural communities. The companies are making a donation for every Tama Edge to Edge netwrap sold this summer to Breast Cancer Ireland.
“We are delighted to partner with Glanbia Agribusiness and Tama and we hope this campaign will raise awareness of breast cancer in farming communities," said Aisling Hurley, CEO of Breast Cancer Ireland.
A limited quantity of TamaNet Edge to Edge 4500m netwrap, which holds together round bales of hay, silage and straw has been specially manufactured in pink for this campaign. The rolls can be purchased across all Glanbia Agribusiness and CountryLife branches.
Alan Gee is a cancer survivor himself and is also branch manager of Glanbia Agribusiness in Mountmellick, Co. Laois, he welcomes the new initiative. "Awareness and early diagnosis is the most important thing," said Mr Gee. "We all know our own bodies and if something doesn’t feel right then go and get it checked out. Chances are it’s nothing but if it is something, the sooner you go about it the better chance that you have. There is nothing to be gained from leaving it. ‘
Glanbia plan to sell 10,000 kilometres of pink netwrap this season, a percentage from all sales will go directly to funding the work of Breast Cancer Ireland.
