Tipperary will be the centre of attention for dairy farmers this week, as the county hosts two major events.

On Wednesday, the Ryan family from Lisheen in Thurles will host the NDC/Kerrygold Quality Milk Awards.

The family won the competition in 2025 for excellence in milk quality, sustainability and for being excellent farmers across a range of metrics.

Mary, Tom and Michael Ryan are farming in partnership, milking around 150 cows on a 56ha milking block.

In 2025, the Ryans sold 548 kgs milk solids to Centenary Co-op at 4.4% fat and 3.66% protein from about 1t of meal per cow.

The event kicks off at 11:30am, with the farm located about three miles outside Thurles in the parish of Moyne. The Eircode to the farm is E41 F761.
