Two new senior appointments at Ornua have been announced in line with the ongoing implementation of the company’s new global operating model ‘One Global Ornua’.

Shane Henry has been appointed as managing director of Ornua Dairy Ingredients, reporting directly to CEO Conor Galvin.

Ornua Dairy Ingredients is a newly established global business unit within the Ornua Group and aims to maximise value from Irish dairy as one dedicated platform.

Henry will be responsible for the further development of strong, sustainable and profitable routes to market for Irish dairy products produced by Ornua’s member co-operatives, servicing key international customers across Europe, the UK, US, Middle East and Africa, plus the wider Ornua Group.

He has 25 years of senior level experience working in several management and business transformation and implementation roles at Ornua.

Shane Henry has been appointed as managing director of Ornua Dairy Ingredients.

Previously, Henry was managing director of Ornua’s route-to-market and member relations team.

Head of global manufacturing and operational excellence

Additionally, Seán McHugh has been appointed as head of global manufacturing and operational excellence, reporting to chief operations officer Jason Musk.

He will be responsible for driving performance across Ornua’s global manufacturing footprint, creating value through the establishment of a standardised operational excellence programme.

McHugh brings 25 years of previous experience working at Ornua, where he held many management roles covering strategy and efficiency programmes across the group.

His most recent role was as managing director of Ornua’s butter production facility at Kerrygold Park in Mitchelstown.

In addition, McHugh was responsible for driving the brand’s innovation agenda as global head of research and development.

New global operating model

“The introduction of a more focused and agile global operating model is key to the delivery of our new and ambitious five-year growth strategy, which will drive value for Ornua’s member co-operatives and Irish farming families, while serving the needs of our customers across the globe,” CEO Conor Galvin stated.
