A total of 11 agri-food tourism projects have secured funding of €197,500 from the Department of Agriculture to develop their businesses.
A call from proposals to be funded under the Rural Development Programme was launched in January of this year by the Minister for Agriculture Michael Creed.
“During these unprecedented times I am pleased to support these initiatives in the agri-food tourism sector and build on progress already made,” the minister said.
“Food Wise 2025 highlights the natural synergy between agri food and local tourism. I believe that agri tourism is of great importance for rural areas in order to showcase their people, landscape, history and culture through agricultural produce, food and drink and local cuisine.”
Minister Creed said the funding would provide opportunities for rural businesses, farmers and producers to develop products and services, connect with the community and improve their skills.
