South Africa – Less wheat

The latest USDA forecast suggests that wheat production for marketing year 2025/26 will be down 5% on last month’s forecast at 1.9m tonnes.

Canada – dairy trade

Canada’s imports and exports of dairy increased in 2025 with exports up 2.77%, the equivalent of 23.28m litres. Imports increased by 9.1%, equivalent to 82.45m litres.

Argentina – cattle numbers

USDA have revised their forecast for Argentina’s cattle slaughter in 2026 down by 700,000 head to 13m head, 600,000 fewer than were slaughtered in 2025.

China – Pig production

China processed approximately 720m pigs in 2025 and produced 16.7m tonnes of pork in the last quarter, the highest quarterly total since 2018.
