Headed for auction in the coming weeks with Raymond Potterton auctioneers are two farms in the heart of the Boyne Valley.

The first, a 30ac non-residential farm, is situated in Gernonstown, 2km from the village of Slane, Co Meath. Laid out in a single rectangular division of sloping, south-facing land, the parcel benefits from natural drainage and good frontage.

Currently in tillage, the farm is suited to a range of agricultural uses, including potato production. A reliable water supply is available to support irrigation across the fields.

Guided at €18,000/ac, the holding will go under the hammer on 30 September at 3pm.

Situated 6km east in Cardrath, on the opposite side of Slane village, the second farm is a 39ac residential holding. Positioned at the centre of the farm, the three-bedroom, two-storey farmhouse has been modernised and maintained over the years and is in good liveable condition.

Surrounding the house is an extensive farmyard, containing a double row, open-sided cattle shed, several round-roofed barns and multiple outbuildings, with good handling facilities and hardstanding space.

While the buildings provide a good footprint, they are traditional in nature and would benefit from modernisation. Set out in six large divisions, the land is good-quality pasture, with well water drinkers in the fields. Going to auction on 15 October at 3pm, the farm is guided in the region of €850,000 for the entire, and will also be offered in separate lots on the day, with the option to bid on Lot 1, the residence on just under 16ac; and Lot 2, the adjoining 23ac.
