US – beef exports rise in March

US beef exports for the month of March stood at just over 115,300t, which was up 7% on the same month last year. This brings US beef exports for the first quarter of 2020 (Jan-Mar) close to 335,000t, which is up 9% year on year.

Russia – 2020 to bring bumper wheat harvest

Russian farmers are forecast to produce a whopping 81m tonnes of wheat this year, which would be almost 8m tonnes more than last year. It had previously been forecast that Russia would produce almost 85m tonnes of wheat this year, but dry weather has reduced yield expectations.

Australia – beef exports fall

Australian beef exports for April came in at just under 92,500t, which was down more than 6% on the same month last year. This brings Australian beef exports for the first four months of 2020 to just over 358,600t, which is down 1.5% year on year.

Brazil – record exports of soya beans

Brazilian exporters smashed their old record for soya bean exports in a single month. For April, Brazil shipped 16.3m tonnes of soya beans to world market – almost 5m tonnes more than the previous record. Over 70% of soya bean exports were shipped to China.
