Forward store bullocks continued as the best sellers in the bullock ring in Bandon.
Prices of €1.95/kg to €2.26/kg were available for forward Angus and Herefords and continentals.
Today’s sale saw a higher proportion of overage cattle than usual, with the stand-out being a September 2012-born Charolais bullock weighing 990kg selling for €2,340 (€2.40/kg).

There was also 2013- and 2014-born bullocks and in the main they sold for around the €1.80/kg mark. Spring 2016 bullocks were a tougher sell.

Friesians made between €200 and €540 with their weight and traditional beef-crosses sold for between €300 and €720 over the €/kg.
Continental bullocks were few in number, but of excellent quality. In the main, they sold for between €500 and €1,000 with their weight.

Heavy cows were great sellers again this week in a sale with 95 lots. Overall, cows made from €50 to €900 over their weight.

Calf numbers dropped again with 550 on offer this week, with much stronger calves available compared with earlier in the year.
Friesian bull calves made from €80 to €170, with older bull calves selling for up to €250.
Friesian heifers sold for between €200 and €300. Hereford- and Angus-cross bull calves sold for between €190 and €490, with heifers of these breeds making from €160 to €420.
Continental heifers sold for up to €430, with continental bulls making up to €550.
