Argentina has shipped its first beef supply to Europe under the Feed lot quota it was granted by the EU in September 2014.

This 48,200 tonne quota is also available to Australia, New Zealand, USA, Canada and Uruguay, for, as the name suggests, it is feed lot cattle and is a general quota to which the approved countries draw out of.

This is in addition to the Hilton quota which applies to high value grass fed beef cuts from young cattle and is allocated specifically to individual countries.

Another South American exporter, Paraguay, is again exporting beef to Europe with the first shipments due to arrive within the next month.
