The number of birth registrations recorded on the Irish Cattle Breeding Federation (ICBF) database for the week ending 13 March 2026 was 999,688 head, an increase of 36,469 head on the corresponding period in 2025.

Births to dairy dams, at 870,236 head, account for 87% of all births to date in 2026 and are running over 25,000 head, or 3% higher year-on-year.

Births to beef dams, at 129,452 head, are running 7,553 head higher, equating to an increase of approximately 6% on 2025 levels.

Pedigree registrations, at 52,961 head account for 5% of all birth registrations with this figure running over 4,000 head higher.
