There is turmoil over the future of North Cork Creameries, with the interim CEO Michael Cronin resigning from the role on Tuesday night.

Stephen Daly was installed as CEO on Wednesday. The proposed deal for Carbery Group to process 100m of the North Cork milk pool is now off the table. Board chair Thomas O’Donoghue said the board is evaluating “available opportunities”.

The milk plant in Kanturk is currently operating at limited capacity, on the back of an Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) closure notice on its wastewater treatment plant. Fears are also growing over the financial situation at the co-op. SIPTU has sought a meeting with co-op management over its planned redundancies.
