Teagasc organic specialists and advisers have organised three farm walks for dairy farmers over the coming weeks.

These walks are aimed at dairy farmers considering converting to organic dairy farming, but would also be beneficial to existing organic dairy farmers, farmers interested in improving environmental sustainability, advisers and agricultural professionals.

Those who attend will have the opportunity to hear directly from dairy farmers who have successfully made the transition to organic dairy production.

Organic dairying can enable farmers to reduce stock numbers and input costs while maintaining, and in some cases increasing, farm profitability.

The exact location of the farm walks will be sent to registered attendees prior to each event. Dates and venues are listed below:

  • Tuesday 30 June, 12pm, Waterford.
  • Tuesday 7 July, 12pm, Clare.
  • Tuesday 14 July, 12pm, Wicklow.
