Lissadell Church

concert for James

The famous Lissadell Church of Ireland in Co Sligo will host James Kilbane in a country and gospel concert on Saturday 24 September. The show starts at 8pm and the concert is in support of fundraising to repair and restore the church roof.

Lissadell church was built by Sir Robert Gore Booth of the nearby Lissadell House. The church and roof were designed by the architect James Franklin Fuller and construction was completed in 1859. Many of the Gore Booth family are buried in a private enclosure beside the church. Constance Markievicz and WB Yeats had close ties with this church.

The current church has been of religious importance to the locals of Lissadell and surrounding community for the past 150 years. James Kilbane is hosting a regular weekly gospel show on the Keep It Country 389 channel on Sky TV. Concert donation tickets cost €15 and are available from outlets around the Sligo region as well as from the Lissadell Select Vestry group. All support is very welcome.
