Volvo Cars has unveiled the new crss country version of its attractive V60 sports wagon. The V60 was refreshed in 2013 with a new front and rear, along with a host of feature updates. At the end of 2014, the V60 received a brand new Drive-E engine from Volvo’s own in-house designed and built engine platform, the 181hp, 2.0 litre, 4-cylinder, D4 diesel.
The V60 Cross Country will be offered in the D3 FWD, D4 FWD and D4 AWD formats. Prices and specification details will be announced early in 2015.
The Cross Country brand has a long Volvo heritage. Volvo Cars first offered increased all-road capability and styling on its estates as far back as 1997 when it introduced the V70 Cross Country.
The new V60 Cross Country has increased ground clearance by 65mm compared to the V60 to give a sporty driving feel and comes with corner traction control for better handling in poor road conditions.
Offering new Cross Country 18” and 19” wheels, the V60 Cross Country comes with high profile tyres, which Volvo claims adds comfort and off-road aesthetics, while reducing road noise and providing added wheel protection.
Volvo’s Drive-E four-cylinder diesel engines, which will be available in the V60 Cross Country, will be the base for the two Front-Wheel Drive variants available. The five-cylinder D4 powertrain will provide the power for the All-Wheel Drive version.
As well as increased ground clearance, the V60 Cross Country comes with skid plates front and rear, side scuff plates and bumper extenders. The car has a more imposing and muscular presence, while integrated tailpipes reflect its sporty side. To complement the exterior styling, sports seats in black leather with distinctive brown stitching, plus two new two-tone leather upholsteries will be offered.
