One such feature where this is evident is the use of the Bomech trailing shoe on all Cross trailing shoe tankers. Cross have always fitted the Bomech shoe, but with the release of the new ‘Headland Management’ version it offers a whole new level of slurry application technology to the farmer. This new type of trailing shoe comes to Irish soil for the first time with Cross offering all the optional extras as standard.

The advantages of the Bomech shoe include:

  • Anti-drip folding – the trailing shoe folds in behind the tanker.
  • Auto ground contouring – trailing shoe is not rigidly mounted to the tanker. It follows the ground contours.
  • Auto macerator auto reverse and blade sharpening – the macerator will never block due to the auto reverse feature. This feature also sharpens the blades.
  • Electric hydraulics – only need for one spool valve.
  • Headland management – new to the Irish market. Automated system from the tractor seat.

    • Headland management is the latest technology in slurry application in Ireland. With one press of a button on the in-cab controller, you can let the boom do all the work. On each headland press, the ‘up’ button and the boom will rise out of the ground, stop rising at a pre-set height, close the slurry outlet valve, reverse the macerator, sharpen the blades and allow the farmer to turn around.

    When ready to spread again simply press down and the control panel reverses the sequence. This feature does away with the need for the farmer to manually lift the boom, reverse the macerator manually and close the outlet valve manually. The Bomech system from Cross brings simplicity and productivity together.
