The sale catalogue has been published for Ireland’s largest multibreed ram sale – the Sheep Ireland Elite €uro-Star Multibreed Ram Sale.
The sale of 472 lowland rams takes place on Saturday 22 August in Kilkenny Mart. Bidding is ringside and via the MartBids online sales platform. The sale starts at 10.30am and rams will be sold across three rings.
There are 17 lowland breeds on offer including Belclare (54 rams) Beltex (seven rams), Bluefaced Leicester (two rams), Blue Texel (two rams) Charollais (153 rams), Dorset (four rams), Dutch Spotted (three rams), Easycare (four rams), Galway (two rams), Hampshire Down (seven rams), Ile de France (two rams), Jacob (two rams), Lleyn (seven rams), Rouge de l’Ouest (six rams), Texel (135 rams), Suffolk (64 rams) and Vendéen (12 rams).
Every ram on offer is rated as five-star on the €uro-Star replacement or terminal index. Each ram has also been genomically evaluated and parentage verified and is eligible for the Sheep Improvement Scheme genotyped ram action. Sheep Ireland adds that every ram will also undergo an extensive physical inspection before being offered for sale.
