Laois-based auctioneering firm Hennessy Auctioneers held its monthly machinery auction last Saturday 29 August at its usual location, the old mart in Portlaoise, Co Laois.
A good variety of farm machinery from small tools to larger implements, loaders and tractors with a number of 4x4s were on site to be sold. In total, over 350 lots went under the hammer.

Speaking with John Hennessy he said: “Despite a reduced number of bidders on site this time around due to COVID-19 restrictions, we had instead a higher number of online bidders. In total, there were 233 online bidders registered for the auction which has proved a great success since we first introduced the option of online bidding back in June.”

The sale finished up with a clearance rate of 85%. All prices were subject to commission of 5%, with a maximum fee of €1,000 plus 23% VAT on commission only. All lots unless otherwise stated had no VAT.
Next month’s auction is scheduled to take place on Saturday 26 September.
