A 1973 Ford 7000 tractor owned by a Northern Irish collector sold for €58,402 (£50,000) plus fees, topping a recent vintage and classic machinery auction, which took place on Saturday 1 August.

The tractor was sold by English auctioneering firm, HJ Pugh and Co, based in Ledbury, Herefordshire, as part of a collective vintage and classic machinery auction held online and in person.

The top-priced tractor formed part of the impeccable Mourne Collection, a lifelong collection of vintage and classic tractors and memorabilia amassed by a Co Down-based enthusiast. Valued at over £1m, the collection was dispersed over two separate sales, the first of which took place on 27-28 February last.

Part one of the sale was topped by a Massey Ferguson 35 Industrial tractor which sold for €64,927 (£56,000) plus fees. The earlier sale also included a Ferguson Brown spanner, which sold for a significant €3,594 (£3,100).

The top-priced Ford 7000 tractor from the more recent sale displayed only six hours and had previously undergone a full restoration. The like-new example was fitted with a Fieco cab, single-acting spool valve, foot throttle, Load Monitor and a Ford weight frame carrying eight weights.

Claiming the second-highest price of the sale was a Ford TW-35, also part of the Mourne Collection, having sold at €47,305 (£40,500) plus fees.

The Series II model was a European import and displayed 7,787 hours. The tractor was fully ballasted with front weights, belly weights and rear wheel weights.

It was also shod with new Michelin 480/70 R28 front tyres.

The third highest priced tractor was a 1983 Ford FW-60 articulated model showing 8,546 hours, which sold for €39,713 (£34,000).

A 2WD 1970 Massey Ferguson 1150 Multi Power tractor sold for €37,377 (£32,000) plus fees. The rare example was imported from the USA in 2005 and displays 4,524 hours.

The 1150 model came equipped with a Perkins 8.3 V8 diesel engine which was originally rated at 146hp.

Other tractor highlights included a restored 1975 Massey Ferguson 148 tractor showing 7,042 hours. It was equipped with a flexi cab and power steering and sold at €21,725 (£18,600).

A 1983 Carraro 118.4 tractor, one of six ever built and the only example in Ireland and UK example sold at €16,936 (£14,500). The 118hp model was previously Irish owned and restored in Co Monaghan.
