An annual charity auction which followed the Fatstock show and sale in Martkethill Mart last Thursday, saw a staggering £40,000 raised for Kidney Care UK.

The auction drew an impressive selection of top-quality items from local businesses and individuals, while mart staff also donated their wages on the night. At the earlier cattle sale, event saw judge Gareth Corrie, Newtownards, awarded Supreme Champion to a superb 654kg heifer from Keith Williamson, Benburb, which later sold for a whopping £6,000.

The Reserve Champion, from J Killen, Crossgar, made £4,500, while Keith continued his winning streak with another heifer tapped out as “Butcher’s Choice” selling for £3,200.
