A top price of €4,200 was received by Jonathan Maye, Ballykeevican, Boyle for Ballykeevican Jacob, a Kingsbrook Emperor son at the recent Midland & Western Livestock Improvement Society show & sale in Carrick-on-Shannon.
On the day, 29 Angus bulls sold for an average price of €2,600, with a 70% clearance recorded on the day. Six bulls went north.
In the ring, the champion Angus bull, Liscolvin Jameson, sired by Crussin Mark, was bred by Martin Garvey, Hillstreet, Carrick-on-Shannon and sold for €3,600. In reserve was Clooncolligan Judge, a Ballymagrine Wonder son, bred by Kevin Diffley, Bornacoola. He was unsold in the ring.

Salers sell to 7,800gns in Stirling
Demand was strong for select Salers bulls at the recent pedigree sales in Stirling which saw seven males selling for an average of £4,725 and two females average stg£2,153. Sale leader at 7,800gns was Whitebog Harvey exhibited by Alister MacKenzie. This April 2012-born Seawell Diplomat son stood first in his class and is out of the Cumbria Fury daughter, Whitebog Rosie. He heads to Orkney to K Harvey, Vestrafold Farm.
The champion Seamore Hernot from Seamore Farming sold for 5000gns to Terry Coghill, Birsay, Orkney. Sired by Seawell Viscount he is out of the Ultra daughter, Seamore Dubai.
Following this, Seamore Farming went on to sell their reserve champion, Seamore Heavy Duty for 4800gns to R Garden, Culfosie, Echt. Also by Seawell Viscount, he is out of Seawell Betty, a President daughter.
Other top prices included 4,500gns for a Seawell Diplomat son; 4,200gns for a son of Ballygar Galway (he was bred by Padraig McConn, The Paddocks, Galway Rd. Ballygar, Co Galway), and 3,200gns for a Rigel Harry Poll son.
