The sale hosted by the South of Ireland Suffolk Society is set for the 2nd of July in Blessington mart and sees 30 of the country’s top rams go under the hammer.

Ahead of the premier in August, these lambs are the cream of the crop, offering earlier lambing flocks the chance to acquire a top ram in time for the breeding season.

The sale consists of mainly Sheep Ireland-recorded lambs. Given the export status of the sale, this offers opportunities for both Irish and overseas buyers.

Coupled with the sale, the branch is holding its national championships, with over 90 top-quality pure-bred registered Suffolk males and females.

The show commences at 10am and this year judge Ronnie Black takes charge of decision-making in the ring.

Further details can be obtained from Suffolk society secretary Anne Mitchell or Blessington Mart.
