James McCarthy has been appointed as chief investments and strategy officer at Tirlán. McCarthy succeeds Frank Tobin who is off to retirement.

It’s a big job, with McCarthy now responsible for the development and execution of the co-op’s corporate mergers and acquisitions strategy.

He joined Tirlán earlier this year as head of corporate development. Prior to that he worked in EY.

Meanwhile, John Kealy has departed from his role as head of procurement, grains and joint ventures at Tirlán.

Just as The Dealer heard that news, up popped a job for a new head of milling and grain at Dairygold, which led me to muse over whether that’s where he might be off to.

Elsewhere, word has reached me that Lakeland has a new appointee on the Ornua board – with Dermot Farrell, general manager of Lakeland’s food service division set to replace Seán Brady at the top table.
