The rumour mill concerning the Teagasc/Dawn Meats West of Ireland suckler herd being placed in Athenry continues.

One farmer jokingly said to me that maybe the hold-up is agreeing a price for any ewes that may have to find a home in any changeover. After all, sheep prices are rising weekly.

Another said the hold-up is over who will take the reins of the venture with Dawn believed to want to take control but Teagasc holding the trump card of having the land.
