Ornua pulled out all the stops at the ICMSA’s AGM in Limerick last weekend.
There was enough butter, cheese and scones on offer at its stand to feed a hungry Sioux war party – and The Dealer dived in with gusto.
They even had promotional Kerrygold socks for any of the lads or lassies who were feeling the cold.
The Dealer wondered if the spread of products had anything to do with the criticism levelled at Ornua at the Dairy Day event in the same town a few weeks earlier when a number of co-op chairs challenged it to broaden their product mix.
Indeed, in a questions and answers session at the AGM, Ornua chief executive Conor Galvin insisted that there was “more to Kerrygold than just butter” and he rolled off their range of cheeses and spreads which they also market.
It’s also interesting to see that the Ornua PPI for November is now over 5c/l excluding VAT higher than the Dairygold milk price for October.
